Hearing Instrument Specialist
Jim Carlson (HIS) is a licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist in New Mexico and Arizona. Jim was born in Minnesota and grew up and lived most of his life in and near Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Since 2018, Jim has lived in Sun Lakes, AZ, a Robson Retirement Community, where he is involved in many social and community events. Jim attended Rochester Community College and Mankato State University, both in Minnesota. Jim became a member of the International Hearing Society in 2013 when he began practicing in Hobbs, NM. Jim was drawn to the profession when he discovered he had a moderate to severe hearing loss. When he discovered how improved hearing changed his life, Jim wanted to change other’s lives through better hearing.
What Jim loves most about saving hearing lives is helping the impaired individuals which brings joy and relief to their loved ones. Jim is not only his patient’s clinician but has become good friends with many of his patients socially.
Outside of saving hearing lives, Jim loves hobbies such as Pickleball (Club President and Event Planner) and long-distance motorcycle rides.

Consulting Audiologist
Board Certified Doctor Of Audiology, Frank Shepel was Voted Best Audiologist in Casa Grande in 2016. This month of May will mark 42 years of excellence for our very own Dr. Shepel. Dr. Shepel’s patient-focused care has brought him from North Dakota, to Minnesota and finally to Arizona over the course of his career. Dr. Shepel is committed to reconnecting patients to their world and his work has led him to helping patients ranging from birth to 100 years old.
Kayla Perez, PSC
Patient Services Coordinator
Kayla Perez is a Patient Services Coordinator. She is a native Arizonian originally from Queen Creek, Arizona and moved to Coolidge, Arizona in 2017 after living abroad for 7 years with her family. Kayla began working in the hearing industry in August of 2024 at the SoundPoint Casa Grande office and was drawn to the profession because she wanted to help others to hear and communicate.
What Kayla loves most about saving hearing lives is knowing that she is part of someone’s happiness. She focuses on achieving the best hearing possible in her everyday work with patients.
Outside of saving hearing lives, Kayla loves hobbies such as hiking, camping, swimming, BBQing, quilting, and spending quality time with her husband, 4 children and 2 grandsons.
